Well, Mother's Day and all it's mayhem is behind us.
The logistics of having to produce and deliver so many arrangements in such a short time frame can be quite the task, but thankfully, the team we had for a very hectic week was amazing!
Thank you to all the staff, family and friends who worked so hard to ensure that every Mother had something beautiful on or before Mother's Day.
Now that that's done, we can once again focus on our bridal clients.
Wedding clients from near and far can rely on Edgy Petals for sound expertise and practical decor solutions to fit any budget, any theme, and most importantly, their unique style.
We are seeing a lot of unique requests this year, anything from incorporating horseshoes (yes, horseshoes) to the family tartan. If you have ideas for personalizing your wedding, be sure to approach us with them. No matter how crazy they might seem at the time, we can always find a stylish, tasteful way to personalize and incorporate the quirky items.
It's what we love to do!

Happy Mother's Day!
Well, it is that time of year again. Time to thank the women, without whom we would not be here! There is a lot of action at the store of course, and hopefully a lot of action in town this weekend. Our chamber is really busy making sure that we get a lot of folks from around the valley out to enjoy our wonderful community. They came up with a great idea to promote us as a destination for something to do! And there is a lot to do. Lots of unique attractions, markets, shops, and of course wineries. The local dining is really fabulous too, and there are alot of great events happening over the weekend due to it being Spring Wine Festival as well.
So, if you are not familiar with Summerland, and have a little time on your hands for a drive, come and check out the town.
And don't forget to stop in and say Hi to all the great staff here who are hard at work and giving up their own Mother's Day to make sure your Mom gets her gift from you on time.

Hoppy Easter!
Yes, I know, a little cheesy to say "Hoppy Easter", but I love it just the same.
It is filled with good intentions and warm wishes for fun.
Spring is really here for the most part and the store is just hopping...(no reference to Easter)
We have lots of new spring products, and lots more on the way so come on by and take a look.
Brides are coming out of the woodwork! We are busy booking consultations for 2010 and 2011 weddings....if you know of anyone getting married, please send them our way asap before the dates fill up.
Best wishes for a wonderful weekend of Easter fun. Hopfully you'll get to spend it with family and friends. (Yes, I know "hopefully" is spelled wrong, but I couldn't resist one last poke at some cheesy Easter fun....)

St. Patrick's Day
Well, Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I was looking for ideas for some great Irish sayings to use for the day, and came across several that I liked alot.
Interesting to note that pretty much all of them involve being optimistic and grateful!
My favorite discovered today: "May your house always be too small to hold all your friends"
And my second favorite was something along the lines of, it is better to give a token bouquet of flowers to your friends today, than to be placing a grandiose arrangement upon a grave tomorrow!
Basically it means to let people know you love them before it's too late!
Enjoy the rest of your day, whether it involves green tea, green beer, or irish coffee. If you're lucky, it won't involve haggis!

International Women's Day
Today is International Women's Day!
This was started way back in the early 1920's when women faced oppression from many different sources.
Women of yesterday were instrumental in changing attitutes towards how we are viewed today.
Fortunately this means that in most of our modern civilized countries we have many freedoms that we can enjoy while being treated with equality and respect.
Let us not forget, that not every woman is so fortunate.
There are victims the world over, here and abroad, engaged in battles of will, battles of the mind, and even battles of the body to attain those same freedoms we take for granted. May we all find ways to assist these people, the strongest women among us.
Thank you to our forebearers, for myself, my girlfriends, my mother, my sisters, my aunts, my nieces, my neighbours, and mostly, thanks for my daughter. (She is soon headed to university to study business- unheard of for women in years past!)
I am so grateful to be a woman today, in this wondrous and wonderful country called Canada!
Make it a great day, or make it a grateful day! Either will do.

Wedding Showcase
We recently attended a bridal show in Penticton as showcasers and had the pleasure of providing bouquets for the models to carry in the fashion show!
It was so fun to watch our creations be sashayed about and to hear the ooohs and aaahs.
We have done countless bouquets of course, but I have never had the pleasure of seeing one carried down the aisle.... so a runway aisle was the next best thing.
It also reminded me of how important it is to carry a bouquet properly!
Some look best when viewed staight on, some slightly tilted, some propped on an arm etc., so whichever bouquet style you choose, be sure your florist gives some hints and pointers on how best to carry it.
Thank you to all of the visitors to our booth. We hope you enjoyed touching and smelling all the bouquets and arrangements....we know some of you especially enjoyed the feathers!
We hope you got some great ideas, and a sense of what we love to do and love to share!

Valentine's Day is fast approaching! Of course, we had to let you know that we are OPEN AND DELIVERING, on Sunday February 14th.....but, business aside, I wanted to let you in on an interesting bit of cynicism that I had the pleasure of overhearing!
Someone recently commented that Valentine's Day is "National Singles Awareness Day".
Of course, it is a bit funny, but not if you're the one feeling lonely that there is no one to adore you and shower you with affection on THE DAY.
Take a moment to remember all the wonderful things about being single....I'll help by telling you some of my favorites!
1) You get the bed, the whole bed, and all it's wonderful covers, all to yourself! No one tossing, turning, blanket-hogging, snoring etc.
2) You are the boss!!! You make all the decisions! Of course, this can have a few drawbacks, but for the most part, it is really wonderful to make pancakes for dinner if that's what you feel like.
3) You make your own schedule! See friends when you want, work all you want, play when and where you please, go to bed when you want, ... (you get the picture)
4)You have to clean the bathroom less often! If you're a woman reading this I would think the reasons are kind of obvious (I don't want to go there!), and for the guys, there is less stuff on the counter, less hair on the floor, less styling products, creams and lotions cluttering the space etc.
Well, I could go on and on about the merits of being single, but shared a few of the more humourous ones. I don't believe on dwelling on anything....so dwelling on the fact that you are single on Valentine's Day is not worth your time!
You can after all, buy yourself flowers! Or reach out, take a chance and surprise someone else with a beautiful bloom or two.....and if that's too much.....make sure you remember while surfing the channels on the big day, that having the remote all to yourself is wonderful!
